2013, I’m Lovin’ it so far ! Give me moreeeeeee!!

    Thursday, January 10th, 2013

    *  This is like my first blog post after more than a year in hibernate mode *

yawnnzz….. Mum woke me up yesterday and passed me an A4 size envelope from the mail man.  Half asleep, I manage to open the cover without  damaging the content. To my surprise I got this !

    543204_10151359691346520_374130913_n

Well it’s a certificate of participation for my debut short film- Enough ! [bass in hindi] from BMW shorty. Overjoyed and my beauty sleep went down the drain but who cares 😛 !! I was thinking : ” hmmm that’s nice way to start my day and the year as well..”

After long back packing trip from India, it’s my 1st day back to reality (WORK!) .

While my outlook mailbox was busy loading the past one month emails, I was just running through some inspirational websites to boost my work mood after a month long break (no,it was all safe for work place [NSFW] websites ok!).

And I recalled that actually the short film that I mentioned earlier was made for some other competition and I actually didn’t follow up with the results with the assumption that I did not receive any email from the organizing committee. Hence I decided to have a quick peek on the winner list  and see how bad I sucked compared to the other finalists.

As I was scrolling down the page (click here) and I found this at the 7th thumbnail !

    untitled

I couldn’t believe my eyes! The debut short film of mine – Enough ! [bass in hindi] made it to the finals!!! And dumb me just gotta know this after one and the half month!!!!

I was a lil upset earlier that my shorty didn’t even make it to our very own Malaysian BMW Shorty competition but managed to console myself that, that’s okay as it’s my first attempt so don’t be greedy son. But this is like….OMG!!!!!!

Oh ya by the way, it’s the 4th International Wordless Short Film Festival that selected my entry and made it as one of the finalist. To add the icing on the cake that I’m savoring in cloud nine,  it’s the only entry from Malaysia and one of the 5 of Asian entries for the competition made it there. The movie was premiered at Armory Theater, Sydney Olympic park, Australia on the 25th of Nov 2012.

I wish I was there to witness our work on the screen with people all around the world who attended the “big” day!

Just in case you have not watched it before, Bass (Hindi for ‘Enough’) depicts an orphan character who struggles to survive in the concrete jungle where he resorts to his artistic talents as a means of escapism and livelihood. The film is about the exploitation of an artist in the art industry and how the character faces it.

Yes we didn’t win the best movie or any award from that but, hey we made it there! Its like a great boost for me and my team to make more attempts in near future. I have no words to express my gratitude to everyone who supported me throughout the whole process of making it and during the time when I was down thinking I made real crappy stuff and wasted viewers 9.42minutes of their life.

Thanks again to everyone especially the jury panel of 4th International Wordless Short Film Festival for selecting Enough! as one of the best 20 from the rest of the participants all over the world.

Thanks to EVERYONE!! You know who you are!

My 2010 and a Thanks Giving!

    Thursday, December 30th, 2010

Many said that 2010 has been a great year for me because it seems i was more lucky and had became more of a household name in indian wedding photography industry, both locally and international. But i would say its because of the seed that i planted 2 years ago and the nurture of it had brought the fruitful year of 2010. The seed, my passion for photography ; the nurture is the continuous effort on making myself a better photographer in this industry.

Of course my hard work alone doesn’t pay it off to be who am i today, there is an old saying says we need two hands to clap in order to hear noise. But in my case because of the thousands pairs of hands and the claps for my work, i am here today as who i am. Hence my biggest thanks would go to my valued client who eventually became good friends, fellow PoserGraphers who shoot along with me, dearest family and lovely friends (both real and virtual i.e. facebook, twitter and also other social network platform).

    A quick recap of 2010:

    • – The year started pretty well as i got my 1st northern region wedding assignment and it was a blast and then upgraded the gears and some lighting systems followed by my website upgrade from pure blog to a more interactive photography website .
    • – Profile shoot for the international sitar maestro, Samuel J Dass and the photos were the one featured on his latest album, Moments which is available in all the major music stores.
    • – Shot a Conceptual Trash the dress pre-wedding photograph with the 5 elements theme name Panchabootha. It was said that its the 1st Indian trash the dress conceptual photo shoot.
    • – Got hired to shoot my 1st International Conceptual Pre-wedding shoot in Singapore, l’amour la nuit and you may view the work here. This was the shoot where PicVid concept was introduced by V.I.P Studio.
    • – Things got even better when I was hired to have a full coverage of an Indian wedding back in Chennai, India!! I was accompanied by 2 fellow photographers, suren and magen to deliver the best to client.
    • – To wrap up the year with some glory, I was hired all the way to LONDON to have full coverage of the British Indian wedding ceremony including the R.O.M, the Mehndi Night and Ponnurukku (gold melting ceremony) and the Pre-Wedding with the PicVid concept with the London Love story theme and also the Grand Ceylonese Wedding.

I might have missed out some of the achievement / accreditation things that i’ve done for the past years, and to many who may think  its not even a matter to be mention or nothing to be shout about, thanks for thinking such way, you know you’ve been in my place to be the prominent who you are today. Being a photographer, our main nature is to sell our self (literally our work) as I believe if  I don’t make some noise then i’m afraid I wont be heard at all. So why bother being “proud”, when yes I do feel a lil proud from what I’ve got collected by looking back from the past 2 years of my photography career.

Last but not least, Happy new year to all and to wrap up this blog post, I would like to give in some promo for my loyal clients and friends. Please check below poster for further detail.

    The Devarajoo’s

    Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

On the 3rd day of diwali, I was hired to shoot a family outdoor portrait in kampar, perak. The journey was like forever because finding the route was never as easy as I thought. Welcomed by a gang of buffalo at the entrance of Kampung SMTD, Kampar reminded me of the tamil movie Anniyan (outsider)’s 1sts scene. Later we were told that one of the family member, aruna use to spend her childhood with them (buffaloes), play with them and talk to them. Wow, not bad huh..hehehe..

It was a hot morning and there were kids and baby, so i found its a real challenge to do outdoor shoot as the kids might get cranky, so I managed to get it done very quickly with the kids and family portrait by a pond side and also another my personal fav location, a waste land which looks like a desert with some greens. And that was the place that was burning hot, I didnt have the heart to keep the kids baked under the sun, so just managed to get a few snap shots (i would say) and packed up and headed back to their backyard for a shoot.

It was really fun to have the whole family get together for a shoot like this and they are such a lovely people especially the silent and always smiling uncle and the total opposite wife, the aunty..hehe…good to have u guys in my portfolio..

and yea, if possible please watch in HD format.cheers!!
