The unsung hero

They were strangers,
by chance and by fate,
made to meet each other
She was the shade for him when it was sunny
She was the incomplete umbrella when it was showerin’
She had been the leaning shoulder for the tired man
She watched him carefully during the tough days
She is our great Seelan palay’s best friend– the tree!!!!

Photobucket

*p/s: The garland that Seelan got from supporters, was later honored to the tree that companied him for the past 5 days !!! i know, the struggle will continue and grow stronger as the tree does!!! valgeh!!!

*p/s:joke of the day was, right after everyone left the spot, the embassy guard walked to the spot where Seelan fasted and they seems like examining a land mine. Guys, nothing wrong for me to name them as clown!!

seelan palay ended his fast!!!

Punctuality always seems to be my biggest enemy. “bro, will u b leaving right after breaking the fast? Beep beep “no bro, i will wait for u”said seelan, via sms…

The moment i reach the spot, i could spot about 20-30 indians standing surrounding seelan, see pic below.

Photobucket

It was 9.30am and yea, he would have end his hunger strike but so what, we still manage to be there to give him our support,i mean that’s the least we can do for this young activist, huh?

Lots of photographs, videos and interviews took place then and in the midst of it, those clown as i mentioned in my previous blog again trying to do some monkey business by snapping all our pictures from the embassy guard post…guard

hmm we don’t know what the hell are they up to or what on earth they can do with that pic….oh yea, we are shaken and shivering in fear, don’t cha think so?crap, gimme a break, monkey arses…a young man was right infront of your consulate for 5 days never eaten and u can’t even pull a single strand of his hair and what u want now.

When interview by the press, seelan told that he tried to contact the ambassador via phone but some lady said he’s not in town and she claims that she does not aware of it. Owh come on, how cowardly action was that. You can even handle a single page memorandum but wanna represent Malaysians in Singapore is it? Yenna kodumei sir ithu!!!!! (What a pity!!)

here’s the voice interview with the press

On Friday there was this incident told by uncle yap when i called him for seelan’s update. He said there’s this malay motor rider came and questioned why is he doing this things and he yelled at him saying that Indians are lazy, drunkard and are shits. Seelan just said thanks and he just rode of…i personally feels really pity on that rider for this. You don’t even know why are we doing this but u can criticize us, you don’t even know your root but u can condemn us. And what’s up, even the Singapore government wasn’t bothered, where did it hurt you? ya mama’s arse? Seelan was cool, that’s why he’s and achiever and an activist, if it was any one else i bet that “hero” would became sambal belacan on the spot. Yea we know its setup to provoke him and they’d purposely find fault to stop the strike. Another incident happened was, right before we leave that spot, a commercial van ried to ram on us (the supporters and seelan was standing on the pavement and inches right below the pavement)…the driver had so much space to drive away but it was damn obvious that he wanted to it us as we saw him purposely tried to hit on us. thank god, we managed to move away quickly..can i say it’s a set up too because the driver was a malay man?? Coincidents?naahh,i don’t think so…sorry guys, im not trying to be racist here and i know none of my malay friends would think i am because i love Malaysia and i love the way it used to be especially the unity among the races. (Although i use to bash up those call me the K word)…

The question marks keeps popping up in my head…what did we do? Is what we are asking is too much than the others get and got? We never ask for any special privileges, we are not asking for smart school for Indians, we are not asking billions of ringgit to build a temple. We are just asking you not to abuse on us, on our children’s future and don’t ever touch our holy places. Speaking about temples, i’ve learned something new from a brother from the gov authority. According to him, when they census on the number of the spiritual home among the races, there’s something fishy happens. Why? Back to school to learn BM ok..?? we call churches as gereja and there’s no specific name for chapels so it falls under gereja category no matter how big or small the chapel is its still gereja. When it comes to Chinese temples, it’s called tokong cina. We have Buddhist temples and also taoisme temples but to the eyes of authority, it’s still tokong cina. And Indians have this bad habit where in rural areas they love to have a mini temple infront or in their house compound.im not questioning their believes, it’s up to them to practices their prayer since it’s so called religious free country. But the sad story is, when the census officers arrives, they see them as kuil and add them to the statistic because we don’t have categories for our holy homes like other race. You got what i mean is enough!!! So when the numbers are given to the media and the cabinet, the questions arise why 8% population needs thousands of temple all over Malaysia??? Can we see the clue there? So whose duty is that to explain the real scenario to the government? Indians, ourself? Or, our leaders?

Guess i am talking too much today, back to seelan palay. I should thank to seelan for making my blog lil more famous than previous. Because i use to blog craps, now, still craps but with lil bit of our community sentiments and also cries here and then. Personally, I feel so proud of this boy for standing up for the Hindraf 5 seeking for fair trial. Hats off buddy!!! Hey, i saw the childishness in him today after he broke his fast. He was hopping up and down from the ground to the pavement with a small smile with big satisfactory feeling on his face. It was cute to see that after seeing the serious seelan for the past 5 days. Believe me or not, im not trying to say this for publicity or glamour just because people are reading my terrible English but this is the truth. After i met him on the New Year day, he always seems to be on my mind whenever i do my daily chores like when i have my meal, thinking how hungry he would be. When i wanna sleep with my fan and blankets on, i would think did he apply the bugs’ repellent and mosquito rub. Whenever it rains in jb or somewhere in Singapore, i always pray that it shouldn’t be raining in jervois road,Singapore because seelan is fasting over there. I duno guys, some of you might think that it sounds gay, yea i know u do. But what the fuck, i don’t care if you wanna think that way, i just cant help myself to feel bad for the person whom was going through the real bad time under the tree. I remember one of the supporters from Malaysia told me that he almost cried when he saw seelan was wearing a rain sit and fasting under the tree while it was pouring like cats and dogs. I was thinking, how many of us actually would sacrifice our new year day and fast under shine and rain

? Not to mention about starvation, i bet most of us wouldn’t be able to imagine staying alone on that day. While all of you are partying out there on the street on New Year ’s Eve, there’s one guy starving and getting all those mosquitoes bites. While you are busy spraying the party spray, there was a guy fasting for us without even insect spray. For whom?

Well, the fast breaking ceremony wasn’t that grand with merely about 30 people but i could see the satisfaction on our hero’s face because it’s not the matter of quantity but quality. Don’t worry brother, we, Indians and also others truly believe your deed is successful and the seed that hindraf planted and the fertilizer that you gave will make the INDIAN TREE grow stronger. We are ready to pour the water for the plant and our unity will be fence to protect the tree from being rooted up!!! Will that happen??? it’s in your hand on coming march!!!

Support Seelan palay !!!

Returned to office at 3.50pm 1st jan 2008, having so many things to say in my mind….

Read raaja’s blog and was touched by an Indian teenagers action…called up mahen to get seelan’s contact number for direction as im at dummy level with Singapore roads but he didnt have his number. So i went to streetdirectory.com and some how found our way there after getting lost for an hour….phewww…
The moment i saw an young Indian guy sitting leaning by the tree,i knew it must be him, seelan palay, the guy whom endangered his own health and safety for a hunger strike in front of Malaysian embassy,Singapore…
When approached, he welcomed us with a tired smile. of course, what you expect from a person whom are surviving by just consuming H2O and going to continue doing that till this saturday 9am…A malay guy from the embassy seems to be like the security guard walked to us after he saw seelan handing over the statement letter to us and asked for a copy.

melayu bodoh

he claimed that he just wanna have a look at the statement but was turned down by seelan….see the video of that frustrated clown walking away ,muahaha…

According to seelan, there were supporters, friends and well wisher coming on and off to give morale support. there was even a guy did a prayer for him in temple and brought some garland and applied the holy kumkum on seelan’s forehead as blessing…hmmm, touched!!!

Singaporean police from tanglin district came about to warn him but he told them he’s just fasting and not gonna do any harm. since it was pouring like cats and dogs, hence the authority unable to record any video footage on him…god is gr8, hehehe…

I was asked that will there be any changes if a single person is trying to do something for the HINDRAF 5? do you (me) think that he will get justice for them or put him into trouble…well,i just kept quiet cuz i noe if i’m about to open my mouth, its gonna ended up in a big argument….what i don’t like about my people’s mentality is they will not look into the root cause or not even take lil initiative to look into the matter but will open their big mouth and de-motivate the rest. Go and see for yourself what is the guy is doing for our Malaysian HINDRAF lawyers fasting under shine and rain endangering his future. Seelan, might face lawsuit and even entry denial to Malaysia but for a good deed, the young artist is doing such a noble job….Seelan palay, reminds me of a Chinese proverb that even a thick iron rod can be grind into a tiny needle if there’s a will….KEEP IT UP!!!!

*edited: more than 25 malaysians visited seelan on 1st january 2008..hats off..
Guys,if u are residing in JB or singapore, the place that seelan fasting now is not very far from you, why not pay him a visit and show your support!!!! thanks!!

message from seelan watch it….

Below is the statement that seelan passed to me today when i met him

I, Seelan Palay, am going to undertake fasting in my personal capacity for a period of 5 days calling for the release of the 5 Hindu Rights Action Force (HINDRAF) leaders, legal adviser P Uthayakumar, lawyers M Manoharan, R Kenghadharan, V Ganabatirau and organizing secretary T Vasanthakumar, who were arrested on 13 December 2007under the Malaysian Internal Security Act (ISA) on unfounded charges of incitement to rebellion and for having links with terrorist organizations. Detention without trial under the draconian Internal Security Act is unjustified for the HINDRAF 5, who only struggle for the marginalized 8% of ethnic minority Indians in Malaysia.

The fast, in which I will only consume water and no food, will be carried out outside the Malaysian High Commission in Singapore, 31 Jervois Road. It will begin at 9am on Monday, 31 December 2007 and end at 9am on Saturday, 5 January 2008. Each day of my fast is in dedication to each of the 5 detainees.

My action is both a personal commitment and a plea for the international community to pay attention to this serious human rights issue. I am calling for greater global commitment to bear pressure on the Malaysian Government for the release of the HINDRAF 5 and to prove any allegations made against them in an open Court process. Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch USA, the Federation of Human Rights Organizations of India (FHROI) and regional NGOs have also strongly condemned this application of the ISA by the Malaysian Government.

Having been present at the HINDRAF rally in Kuala Lumpur on 25 November 2007, I can personally attest to the peaceful assembly that HINDRAF organized and the unjustified response to it by the Malaysian Federal Reserve Unit (FRU). As if there were not enough tears in the eyes of the people gathered that day, the authorities have had to administer tear gas to further add to their pain. Rubber bullets and water cannons were also used on the unarmed citizens, which included men and women of all ages. Let us not forget the Batu Caves incident earlier the same day where tear gas was shot into the Batu Caves temple upon civilians who were trapped inside.

Given our common history, I can relate to the language of structural poverty of the Malaysian Indians. The people gathered that day with peaceful intent for a just cause, and that is why I am determined to express my disquiet and discontent at what is a highhanded approach by the Malaysian Government.

In line with the greater focus on human rights in ASEAN today, what with the inclusion of a Human Rights Commission in the signing of the ASEAN Charter in Singapore, we surely cannot turn a blind eye to this matter, especially as it concerns a country which is our immediate neighbor.

Lastly, I cannot celebrate the coming of the New Year when I know that the HINDRAF 5 may be detained for an indefinite period of time.

Sincerely,
Seelan Palay

Pakistan Benazir Bhutto DieWatch more amazing videos here

Benazir Bhutto followed her father into politics, and both of them died because of it – he was executed in 1979, she fell victim to an apparent suicide bomb attack.

Her two brothers also suffered violent deaths.

Like the Nehru-Gandhi family in India, the Bhuttos of Pakistan are one of the world’s most famous political dynasties. Benazir’s father, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, was prime minister of Pakistan in the early 1970s.

His government was one of the few in the 30 years following independence that was not run by the army.

Born in 1953 in the province of Sindh and educated at Harvard and Oxford, Ms Bhutto gained credibility from her father’s high profile, even though she was a reluctant convert to politics.

She was twice prime minister of Pakistan, from 1988 to 1990, and from 1993 to 1996.

Stubbornness

On both occasions she was dismissed from office by the president for alleged corruption.

The dismissals typified her volatile political career, which was characterised by numerous peaks and troughs. At the height of her popularity – shortly after her first election – she was one of the most high-profile women leaders in the world.

Young and glamorous, she successfully portrayed herself as a refreshing contrast to the overwhelmingly male-dominated political establishment.

But after her second fall from power, her name came to be seen by some as synonymous with corruption and bad governance.

Asif Zardari going to court

Asif Zardari has faced numerous corruption charges

The determination and stubbornness for which Ms Bhutto was renowned was first seen after her father was imprisoned and charged with murder by Gen Zia ul-Haq in 1977, following a military coup. Two years later he was executed.

Ms Bhutto was imprisoned just before her father’s death and spent most of her five-year jail term in solitary confinement. She described the conditions as extremely hard.

During stints out of prison for medical treatment, Ms Bhutto set up a Pakistan People’s Party office in London, and began a campaign against General Zia.

She returned to Pakistan in 1986, attracting huge crowds to political rallies.

After Gen Zia died in an explosion on board his aircraft in 1988, she became one of the first democratically elected female prime ministers in an Islamic country.

Corruption charges

During both her stints in power, the role of Ms Bhutto’s husband, Asif Zardari, proved highly controversial.

He played a prominent role in both her administrations, and has been accused by various Pakistani governments of stealing millions of dollars from state coffers – charges he denies, as did Ms Bhutto herself.

Many commentators argued that the downfall of Ms Bhutto’s government was accelerated by the alleged greed of her husband.

None of about 18 corruption and criminal cases against Mr Zardari has been proved in court after 10 years. But he served at least eight years in jail.

He was freed on bail in 2004, amid accusations that the charges against him were weak and going nowhere.

Ms Bhutto also steadfastly denied all the corruption charges against her, which she said were politically motivated.

She faced corruption charges in at least five cases, all without a conviction, until amnestied in October 2007.

General Musharraf

President Pervez Musharraf granted Ms Bhutto and others an amnesty

She was convicted in 1999 for failing to appear in court, but the Supreme Court later overturned that judgement.

Soon after the conviction, audiotapes of conversations between the judge and some top aides of then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif were discovered that showed that the judge had been under pressure to convict.

Ms Bhutto left Pakistan in 1999 to live abroad, but questions about her and her husband’s wealth continued to dog her.

She appealed against a conviction in the Swiss courts for money-laundering.

During her years outside Pakistan, Ms Bhutto lived with her three children in Dubai, where she was joined by her husband after he was freed in 2004.

She was a regular visitor to Western capitals, delivering lectures at universities and think-tanks and meeting government officials.

Army mistrust

Ms Bhutto returned to Pakistan on 18 October 2007 after President Musharraf signed into law an ordinance granting her and others an amnesty from corruption charges.

Observers said the military regime saw her as a natural ally in its efforts to isolate religious forces and their surrogate militants.

She declined a government offer to let her party head the national government after the 2002 elections, i

n which the party received the largest number of votes.

In the months before her death, she had emerged again as a strong contender for power.

Some in Pakistan believe her secret talks with the military regime amounted to betrayal of democratic forces as these talks shored up President Musharraf’s grip on the country.

Others said such talks indicated that the military might at long last be getting over its decades-old mistrust of Ms Bhutto and her party, and interpreted it as a good omen for democracy.

Western powers saw in her a popular leader with liberal leanings who could bring much needed legitimacy to Mr Musharraf’s role in the “war against terror”.

Unhappy family

Benazir Bhutto was the last remaining bearer of her late father’s political legacy.

Her brother, Murtaza – who was once expected to play the role of party leader – fled to the then-communist Afghanistan after his father’s fall.

From there, and various Middle Eastern capitals, he mounted a campaign against Pakistan’s military government with a militant group called al-Zulfikar.

He won elections from exile in 1993 and became a provincial legislator, returning home soon afterwards, only to be shot dead under mysterious circumstances in 1996.

Benazir’s other brother, Shahnawaz – also politically active but in less violent ways than Murtaza – was found dead in his French Riviera apartment in 1985.

Sepet, some how met a bunch of monkeys whom are almost same head (sama kepala) as him…how they met is almost forgotten but sepet always act cool in class and wont talk much with those he doesn’t know so thats what he did to them also…actually, sepet is nice guy la, just that ego stops him from being himself…for once, the girls @ buddies offered him help to complete his assignment for him and that’s it,shameless bugga sticked to them d..ever since then, they were like kinda close..hmm…not to say kind of close but really really close till they will give sepet wake up calls to attend the morning class, give the answers for the quizzes..and volunteered them self to include him as one of the group assignment member…all what he gotta do as a group member was a real mission impossible–print the front cover with group members name and bind it…tough isn’t it…and he fails to do that most of the time…imagine how the rest of them will be reacting for his “dedication”…gedebaangbooommm..
skipping class is the best habit that sepet could inherit to the gang members…friday classes after 11am were never attended cuz these 5 monkeys will be watching kabhi kushi kabhi gham for the 5th time in GSC midvalley (complimentary ticket from jo’s cousin who happen to work there)…cis ..shameless people..damn…arghh who cares!!!
